Images Leaked Online for the new CX-5 SUV
The new Mazda CX-5 has been leaked online and it has received a mid-life revision. It will be unveiled at the LA Motor Show. The Mazda CX-5 SUV has only been on sale for two years so it still has lots of life left in it. However, the Japanese automaker has decided to keep its car ahead of the latest crossover competitors.
The images leaked online are of the Japanese-spec models but it is likely that this is the car we will see at the official unveiling next week. The noteworthy changes to the Mazda include a new LED headlamp design, chrome-slatted front grille, fresh wheel designs and a classier fog lamp surrounds.
These changes make the CX-5 look noticeably more luxurious so it can rival the likes of the newer Nissan Qashqai. There is no word on prices and specs yet, but there may be minor revisions to the powertrain, as well as an updated interior to match the exterior. More details will follow in the coming weeks.
The current CX-5 is offered in a choice of five trims; SE-L, SE-L Nav, SE-L Lux, SE-L Lux Nav and Sport Nav. The higher spec versions are well equipped. The entry level SE-L models are attractively priced and feature standard kit such as Bluetooth, cruise control, automatic lights and wipers, dual-zone climate control, Bluetooth and wipers. The Range-topping Sport Nav model is equipped with leather seat-trim, 6-way power adjustment for the front seats, a reversing camera and a Bose surround sound system.
The current incarnation of the CX-5 is powered by Mazda’s 2.0 litre petrol or 2.2 litre SkyActive engines, which deliver pace with low emissions and high mpg. The Mazda CX-5 is stylish, good to drive and well equipped with efficient engines and it is one of the best crossovers on the market. However, it has dull interior design and fiddly sat-nav option.
