New engine is built by “Ricardo aka engine kings” in the UK and it is capable of doing 0-60 in 2.9 seconds and reaching 204 mph

It was not very long ago when McLaren P1 was launched, even with its hybrid engine it soon became the sweetheart of hundreds and thousands of supercar enthusiasts. It is time for us to witness a marvel happen as McLaren has launched yet another fantastic supercar – the McLaren 650S Spider – at Ascari Race Resort, Southern Spain. This piece of art is available as – a £157,860 – coupe and – a £167,000 worth of – roadster, Spider will be covering almost 90 per cent of North American deliveries and so in European markets. The most amazing thing here is that when you will be reading this blog post, the very first owners will be taking delivery of this marvelous supercar of theirs.

This work of art and craftsmanship is unbelievably almost three-quarters of a million dollar cheaper than its predecessor, the P1. Most of its looks have been taken from the P1 and the engine is based on MP4-12C but nicely refined for more horses. To give Spider sales a boost, 12C production has been ceased since this January, which eventually makes it the entry-level model of McLaren. It will keep on serving as entry-level model until its new model comes in which is rumoured to become the biggest rival of Aston Martin V8 Vantage and Porsche 911.

The 650S also has the honour to have its top portion the dry-sump – M838T 3.8L V8 engine– built by Ricardo aka engine kings in the UK, for less friction and more urgency, this engine has been reengineered. Graziano is the provider of its seven-speed Seamless Shift Gearbox which is reprogrammed for a better drive experience with better shift behaviour. This engine churns out massive 641 hp with 0-60 at 2.9 seconds, reaching a top speed of 204 mph.
